Damn my house in such a tip,
Forgot my "resolutions", have let them slip.

Todays excuse, getting sleep,
House is quiet, not a peep.

Shut eye was a resolution,
Easy to do, no time for execution.

Some things, have to give,
A messy house, I'm sure you'll forgive.

Luckily, there's always tomorrow,
Maybe a maid, I could borrow.

Meanwhile, I'm off to bed,
With one resolution, well ahead.

My granddaddy always said to spend time with the kids, the house would keep. Wonder what excuse I can use now that the kids have flown out of the nest? LOL

Oh, I need a nap too. This was the perfect poem. I wouldn't mind having a maid as well.

I believe napping was on the list of resolutions, wasn't it?

Oh, sleep has to trump a clean house. Easily!

Well deserved rest is always a good reason to not do chores - I'm the opposite - too many chores and not much wink eye!

Enjoy your sleep.

I need 8 hours or else I'm a total crank.

It's been waaaay too long since I've been here. After a hiatis, I knew I had to make sure to visit. I missed your poems and this one is spot on. Spot on.
