Anxiety Sucks

The panic sets in,
With unknown cause.
I catch my breathe,
Take a pause.

What makes my chest,
Flutter and heave,
Is outside my mind
Somewhere, taken leave.

The feelings linger,
With the chest still in pain,
Rack my mind for reason
But only in vain.

Spare me the angst,
I'm no longer a teen
Don't need the stress,
The mind needs to come clean.

Is this a medical condition, or something from another cause? It sounds pretty serious.

I know how you feel! Anxiety gets into my bones. Step back, take a breathe, you're not dead yet.

Very rhythmic and moving poem. I think that reading it out loud would actually calm my breathing a bit if I was nervous or anxious. - G

Yes, you definitely captured the essence of anxiety here!

It is such an awful feeling; totally consuming and overwhelming...

I keep having attacks of it, randomly with no trigger in the moment...very frustrating!

Nice poem for a not-so-nice condition. I'm in the middle of it right now, and I totally agree with you - it sucks big time!

Hope you get over it soon.
