One of My Favorite Things

First of all I want to thank you all for the great support you have been giving me on my weightloss challenge with Adam. Although he won the first round I am determined to win the war..... As others have said even if I lose the challenge I still win. Losing weight has been a goal of mine for years and I am finally in a place where I might actually succeed. Our little wagers just makes it more fun and what better goal for a dieter than a meal at the end of it all.

During all this I have found a new food love, Arnold's Sandwich Thins 100% whole wheat. They are full of hearty flavor and very satisfying for only 100 calories. They make the perfect size sandwich. My favorite is to use minimal mayo [or none at all] and add thin slices of tomato and cucumbers. Tuna, chicken salad or a slice of cheese now and then adds a nice variety. Humos is also a delicious spread for sandwiches. When toasted they become nice and crispy and because they are thin could easily become over toasted, which is fine with me, I like burnt toast. I haven't tried the other flavors but I am sure they would be delicious too. [click the link for full details]

There are other brands of this type of bread and I have tried one other, whos name escapes me, but I found Arnold the most robust and flavorful.

What are some of your favorites?

I like to use these as an alternative to hamburger rolls too. And they just put out ones that are rectangles, the photo shows them as a hot dog roll, but of course they would be good for sandwiches too. Keep up the good work! I'm proud of you and your efforts!

I'm with Dawna - I get so excited when I find a "diet food" that my son will eat too. And he loves these.

I LOVE these! I am on Weight Watchers and they work perfectly. I think that they are only 1 point. I have tried all of the flavors and I haven't found one that I don't like. I saw that there is another company trying to make sandwich thins too, but I am partial to Arnold's. It is also really yummy if you use one of the sandwich thins and then spread it with Laughing Cow Cheese (the whole wedge) and then some turkey. So freaking yummy!

Good luck with your weight loss!

It's funny you said that because I tried those recently and really liked them too! I haven't compared them to other brands though. I'm glad to know they're the best. :)

No, those are MY favorites too! LOVE them!
And they are more flavorful and filling then big ole white buns.
Speaking of big ole white buns...I have a couple I need to get rid of.

I love the sandwich thins too! They are perfect for a sandwich. I also love the bagels called Alternative bagels in the freezer or dairy case. they are lower fat and loaded with fiber than regular bagels

I know this may sound odd, but try sliced dill pickle, Swiss cheese and a touch of mayo on dark rye. May not fit your diet plans, but it is tasty. I do like the thins.

Good luck with the weight loss. I'm trying to lose weight at the moment too, it's so bloody hard isn't it?!

This bread looks ideal, thanks. :)

Never saw them in the supermarket....sounds good...I'm a carb addict - and bread is my weakness - in fact sometimes my dessert is bread and cheese.

They do look delicious although I'm not sure I'll find them here ;0(

I LOVE Arnold's!!!!!!!!! Before the flood, I took my lunch to work every day and it was always a sandwich made with Arnold's, Quaker Rice Snacks chips, and a Weight Watchers snack cake.

sounds like you are on your way to weightloss - keep at it -- that bread makes great sense esp if it is "robust" :D

I love this stuff! I usually buy packages of them just to eat straight with hummus--any kind of chip substance wrecks the whole reason for eating hummus in the first place.

I think the key to it is just cooking for yourself--I can't tell you how much money you save doing it, and you'll always create a healthier meal than you'll be able to buy anywhere.

My SIL buys these. I'd like to, too, except Mr. Fairway would probably say, "So, where's the bread?"

I want these!! I will definitely be looking for them next time I go to the store!

I'm working on a new me, as well. I'm down a bit over 20lbs (with tons more to go). I've found I really love the Weight Watcher meals for lunch---the thai chicken with rice noodles. I am really happy eating that same meal 3x a week. It's really filling and something like 300 calories!

Oh---and we just discovered that Fiber One has breakfast muffins that appear to be healthy! They are delicious!
