I know I am late with this today but I have had a busy morning. I am even forgoing sleep to satisfy all you readers waiting impatiently for my words of wisdom bullshit. I got out of work this morning at 0715 got a coffee at McDonald's, went to the dentist and got my tooth fixed [a filling fell out Saturday] and they were kind enough to do my cleaning at the same time. From there I drove to Worcester State College to pick up my daughter in the computer lab. While I waited for her to finish her project I bought tickets for us to see Keane [this is a post of the time we saw them last summer] in August. This will be our third time. Woooo Hoooo.
********
Now for the real purpose of this post, if the above wasn't homicidal enough, except for the ticket part. When I was growing up we moved around a lot, Dad was in the Air Force, and most of the places we lived were quite rural. As a result I always wanted to live in a place with a side walk in front of the house. To me that meant other kids and people around. It was usually just me and my sisters. Guess what, my dream came true... yippeee [note sarcasm].
My neighborhood is off a main road but it doesn't lead anywhere so there isn't much traffic and it is nice and quiet for the nocturnal life I lead. Awesome, except driving around can be a nightmare. People, and I don't mean just teens like in this Justifiable Homicide Tuesday-teenagers, walk in the middle of the street. Joggers, dog walkers, speed walkers and people pushing strollers. They just amble down the middle of the street oblivious of anything around them. The dogs see you coming and run out at you because the owner doesn't have the retractable lead tightened.
The soccer moms pushing the all terrain strollers are so busy chatting they have no idea what is heading up the street at them. In some parts of the neighborhood there are sidewalks on BOTH sides of the street but noooooo, the road is better. They can walk 4 abreast in the street and take up the entire road.
The joggers have their ipods on and can't hear a thing... join a gym will yah. Same goes for the speed walkers. Case in point: I was coming home from work yesterday and about to pull into my street and there were two ladies, on the sidewalk believe it or not, but they were about to cross the street so I stopped to let them cross, did I get a nod for a thank you, a half hearted wave or nod, nope they ambled right onto the street with a I don't give a shit if that car is coming la de dah, isn't that flower pretty attitude. I am so tempted to give one these people a scare sometime but just my luck it will be the Chief of Police.
So what has pissed you off this week?

Well, right NOW my 4 year old is driving me nuts.
I have laundry to do. Yuck.
speedwalkers, ugggggg those people in the mall that have on track suits and speed past me, really? Go to the track!
people that don't obey traffic rules are at the top of my list right now.
I'm a thoughtful driver and I was really bothered by the lack of thank-yous also. I am actually used to the way people are but for some reason this bothered me more this week.
I feel your pain. Where we live, we have bicyclists that take up the entire 2-lane, narrow, curvy road....such a nightmare!
I don't understand why people think the street is a place to do other activities than driving.
When I was growing up I lived on a street that hardly saw any traffic. My sisters and I would play catch or football in the street. However, as soon as we heard or saw a car we would haul ass out of the way. Streets are for cars, not kids. That is what my parents taught me anyway.
Sometimes if I am really mad, I'll actually yell that out my car window at the careless kids on my street.
lol. yeah i got a thing for oblivious people in the center of the road...
parents that think raising their voice will help their child hear them....they dont have an ear issue, its a heart issue....
hmmm....I don't think I have gotten pissed this week. Now that school is out and most of the students are gone life got a lot easier!!
I have had this happen to me almost everyday!
I was online at the grocery store thumbing through a magazine when this woman pushed pass me knocking the magazine out of my hand and never even turned to say sorry. RUDE!
Surprisingly enough, I haven't foamed at the mouth once this week...but of course, the week isn't over yet! Those folks should take their ear buds out as they're crossing the street. We've had some pedestrian fatalities in DC, because the folks crossing the street can't hear the oncoming traffic...
Just tap a few of them with your bumper. They'll get the idea.
Not a lot pissing me off this week -- I'm on vacation! But hell yeah, people need to use the sidewalk! I understand if they don't want a stroller constantly thumping, but use the edge of the road -- Courtesy People!
Hi VL! I'm like a virus...I spread quickly..I like your blog, too, so it's now added to my daily rounds. I like blogs MUCH more than plain old news. I find them much more useful and if anything big I need to know about happens, it will usually turn up on a blog, minus the big media illuminati spin **grabs foil hat to deflect mind control gamma rays that are beamed from the illuminati satellites**.
Had to drive into Hollywood today, and got behind a nervous driver in the carpool lane. That's my gripe. This driver must have felt guilty about the ability to go faster than all of the other cars that were completely stopped in the other four lanes because they would just randomly break for no darn good reason, and then start crawling at 5mph even though the lane in front of them was clear for miles. It bothered me so much that I actually left the lane and joined the congested crowd just to get away from their knee jerk brake lights.
Another pet peeve of mine is akin to yours. Except it is parking lots, usually at grocery stores. A crowd of people, usually a happy to be together family, walks down the center of the aisle between the parked cars making you move as slow as they walk. I only put up with it so long before I give them a horn blast good enough to lift their wigs or skirts or whatever. I mean, really, how hard is it to move to the side and let cars pass?
Now that I'm at it, I'll ask your readers about something that has been a giant annoyance of mine for a long time, but also a mystery....maybe if someone here does it they can explain it to me. WHY OH WHY do people leave the distance equal to two football fields between their car and the one in front of them at a red light? WHAT IS THE PURPOSE of this other than to make the person behind them miss the light that they could have easily made if only the person in front of them didn't leave enough space for the shuttle to land???!!!????
So far it's been a good week - I got a bit pissed today as I could not go to yoga - not too exciting right? But at least someone's seeing Keane the 3rd time ....I'm jealous :)
Too funny, yeah those are all annoying things that would peeve me off too! One of my peeve is people who park over the line in a parking lot. I have a 5 yo, he's gonna swing his door open and kiss yours, so watch out! LOL Stopping by from SITS!!
