Happy Birthday,
Child of mine.
Twenty-one years old,
You've made our hearts shine.
I didn't know,
Until you were here
A love so deep
To our family so dear.
Into this world late,
By seventeen days to be exact
You didn't walk until seventeen months
Odd, but true fact.
A funny child,
To all she smiles.
Are you my daddy?
We've had our trials.
My birthday wish
For you dear, today
Is for you to be happy
As your mother I pray.
You've grown up so beautiful
You make us proud
Another hope for your future
That no pain or hurt be allowed.
Life is an adventure
But mine never began
Until you were born,
Part of the grand plan.
Happy Birthday my oldest
On this day in May.
Please don't get any older,
Or my age you betray.

Happy Birthday to your #1... what a great poem!
Hey Sweetie. Re: the last two lines of your poem,...this isn't always the case. For instance, I am 17 and my daughter is 36. Yeah, it's the new math alright! Works for me.
Happy Birthday!!! To your daughter AND to you, Mom!!!!
