Not Music Monday but a concert of sorts.....

Picture credit Wilbur Theater Fan Pictures

After what seemed like forever trying to find a restaurant at 7pm on a Saturday night that didn't have an hour waiting line my daughters and I settled for Kelly's Roast Beef. It was quick, inexpensive and fairly tasty. Oldest and I had lobster rolls and youngest had a scallop roll. You would think I would learn to make a reservation somewhere.... next time maybe.

We all laughed through the entire show and we wished it went on longer. He can joke about the simplest things, like the water bottle, his boots (as seen in the opening picture). He dates Katy Perry in real life and was often bemused when her fans would ask him to take their picture. Her fans don't realize he is "stupid famous" in Britain as he put it, but not so famous in the US. His routines often went off on tangents but he would somehow pull it back to where he started in a seamless manner. I would often forget where he started until he would up the routine.

Since the Brits have different euphemisms than we do in the US, he proceeded to translate them for us, quite funny as he would adopt an American accent when saying the American equivalent. A real talent for comedy I enjoyed the entire show.

A photographer from the Wilbur Theatre came around before the show and took pictures of a lot of the people in the audience for their Facebook fan page.  I was in the ladies room when she came by but I am very ok with that.
My lovely daughters.

I took a picture of the fancy work over the stage and when I looked at the picture I realized it said MOM. In the center of the "O" is a W for the Wilbur.

MOM :-)

He has his own interesting style. Always the black skinny jeans and the crazy hair.

He took off his leather jacket later to give us a better look at his American flag tee shirt. He opened with a lot of jokes how he loved Boston but it was painful for a Brit to see the sight of all our victories and it will be hard for Britian to take us back now.

Russell ended the show by bringing out his friend and actor Jonah Hill. Apparently they are promoting a new picture. Jonah was quite funny himself.

Russell and Jonah were both in the theater for autographs after the show but it was very crowded and we didn't get a chance. We did see him acting silly with the fans and weren't too disappointed. We hung out by the driveway that exits the theater and as he drove by with his window open I shouted "America loves you" and he yelled back "thank you".... my claim to Russell Brand fame..

Russell Brand is irreverent and intellectual at the same time. His comedy can be abrasive and his language is raw as are a lot of his topics. He is very animated and he often jestures and pantomimes as he speaks adding more humor to the routine... have a look and Enjoy

When I first opened the post I didn't look close enough at the pictures & thought... Gallagher, is he still around? Then I started reading & took another look. I think Russell is a pretty funny guy. I've seen a few things with him in them & he definitely added to them. What a fun night for you & your girls. Oh 7 how cool that you took a pic of MoM without really even knowing it!

How cool! I didn't even know he was coming to Boston!

I can't even tell you how many times we have ended up at Kelly's because we didn't plan better to get to a restaurant before a show on a weekend! At least the food is decent. Which one did you end up at? We usually end up in Saugus since it is on the way in to town for us.

I love him! I think I just want to take care of him. I have loved him in all his movies, but where he really stole my heart was on a morning show with Kathy Lee Gifford. He just brings out the "mama" in all of us.

He actually sounds like a lot of fun. Was wondering what Katie saw in him (not in a bad way - just wondering!)

I think Russell Brand is hysterical. And I'm jealous you got to go to Kelly's Roast Beef. Love that place! Gotta hit it the next time I'm in town. Glad you guys had a great night.
