Music Monday-A band you should know.

The group I am highlighting today is another British band that was introduced to me by my oldest daughter. Keane is a piano lead band which distinguishes itself from other mainstream bands. When I mention this group most people say they have never heard of them, but once they hear a couple of songs they  have that "ah ha" moment. [copyright Oprah... whatever] They have three studio albums thus far, Hopes and Fears, Under the Iron Sea and Perfect Symmetry.

I have to thank Keane for my expansion into British pop and rock and roll music. Several [many] years ago they were on the Brit Awards, think US Grammy Awards only better, so we taped the show on BBC America. It was a great show that also included performances by Franz Ferdinand, Green Day, Gwen Stefani and many more. The artist that caught my attention was Robbie Williams whom I had never heard of before. He was being presented with the award for the best song in the last 25 years. Angels is his signature song and I was captivated immediately.... I will feature him another time....

We have since seen Keane twice in concert and they have not disappointed either time. Their shows aren't all about the lights and pyrotechniques as with some bands. They do have lights and big screens but it is  mostly about the music. Although they are known for being a "guitarless band" they did have a guitar player on their last tour. It did not change the fact the piano and drums are the primary focus.

As usual, below are videos of a few of my favorite songs.

I had heard Keane’s first two singles when they first came out and I remember falling in love with their sound straightaway…simple and refreshing they are indeed the quintessential British Band!

I was telling someone about a song a few years ago. He asked who sang it and I said "Keane." He said, "It's Kanye." I said, no, definitely not Kanye. The douche.

That first Keane album is one of my favourite CDs of the last ten years for sure. It's so addictively catchy. If you like them you probably like Travis too, right? They sound so alike to me except Keane are more heavily piano oriented, but Travis' "The Man Who" CD is another favourite of mine of that genre. Catchy!

How has anyone not heard of Robbie Williams?!? :) Man's been HUGE forever. Well granted, it wasn't in the U.S...
