Ok, ok so it wasn't my best............
Ok so yesterdays post wasn't my best, but I am trying. I have had a bit of a dry spell lately on posting and I couldn't even come up with a "Friday 55" this week.. so disappointing as it is my favorite meme. When I get in these "spells" I tend not to read and comment on as many blogs either. I am not sure if that affects the comments I get or not, but I think so to some extent. It seems when I do more commenting I get more comments, fair enough. Some bloggers seem to comment after I have been to their blog. Perhaps they see my "name" and say, "oh yeah, wonder what VL is up to today" forgetting about me until they see my name. I may not be on their blog rolls [shame on them, you should all be grabbing my button. See it over there ----> ]
Anyway, Mimi asked in a comment yesterday, why I don't use my real name on Facebook. Good question.
There are several reasons actually. The main one is I don't want people to "find" me just because they can type my name in the search. I want to be "friends" with people I want to be friends with, on my terms. Call me selfish, but it is what it is. My family knows what my "name" is and where to find me. My RL friends, for the most part, don't have FB and the ones that do I work with. I don't want work friends on my FB, and most of them know that. My supervisors are on FB, uhh no thanks I don't care to share with them. I don't do or say anything I am embarassed about, usually, but I don't feel it is wise or fun to have bosses on FB.
I have my blog listed on NetworkedBlogs [something else you should all be clicking on. It's over there too. ----> ] so all my blogger friends can find me.
Most of the friends I have on FB I have met on the internet and the only way to keep contact is through sites such as FB and the forums where I met them in the first place. [See my favorite sites, to the top left] These friends are as real as any I have in RL...as most bloggers are internet savvy you probably know what I mean. A lot of my blogger friends are becoming great friends I can confide in and have a laugh with. This is a concept many of my RL friends and aquaintances just don't get. When I travel to meet some of these friends I am often met with, "are these those on-line friends" said with a confused or doubtful tone. Whatever.....
So, that's my story and I 'm sticking to it.... I hope to catch up this weekend but it may be difficult as my beloved MacBook is in the repair shop getting a new cover and keyboard, some cracks are appearing and I want it spruced up while it is still under warranty. [it's not like there are 3 other laptops and a desktop in the house]...
So what's your story?

None of our managers at work have FB pages, just to keep it professional. I feel bad for them.
I go through dry spells as well. Sometimes I'm in the mood for blogging and commenting and sometimes I am too tired to even make myself a martini1 But the FB thing - sometimes I am so overwhemed when I go across there - messages, updates etc.
Well, what can I say....my dry spell has lasted...let's see, when did you help me set up my page? Yeah, a looooong time ago. lol
No matter what you are writing...poetry, short stories, novels or blogs, everyone has a dry spell. Or just a period of time where we don't have anything to say. Nothing wrong with that Blue!
And fine, I'll give your mojo back. I'm done with it and need a rest today. lol
And quite frankly...people who think that our friends that we meet over the internet aren't real friends, PFT! ....let me tell you, my friends online are the most caring and connected friends I have ever had.
Love you. And rememnber, when you can't find something inside to write about....write about me!
one of my biggest regrets...using my name on fb...I so understand;)
I am on Facebook, but if I hear one more Farmville update, I just may blow....
I too have dry spells but consider them rebooting time for my brain. Lately I am using the blog to travel forward. Sometimes I get so into myself that I forget to read others blogs. But miss out on so much. Have a great day.
I have no boss to worry about on FB. I just wish I had stuck to one name on all my different accounts. Now that I write more on my blog everything else has a different version of my name. I wish I had known about branding before I started to think about it. Oh well.
i am one of those idiots that put no intentionality behind hiding online...yep, i really am brian miller...
I understand, it would be super-inconvenient to have your boss involved with your private life.
Secretia
Ya know, this makes me wanna get on FB and have a fake name too...cuz then I could talk about my blog on it!! I don't talk about it on my FB now because their are certain family members that CAN NOT find my blog or I would die.
Thanks for the awesome answer friend!! :)
I think I'm backwards, I don't do FB and I think my blogger friends are RL too. My real -can-actually-see and-touch-them friends do not even understand. I'm sure they're talking about me on FB right now (-:
I use my first and middle name on FB. I don't want people to be able to find me either.
Hey,
As long as you are brave enough to be so honest on your blog, I'm sure you will find readers. They may, like you, take a day or two off.
Too much Internet can be too much Internet for anybody.
