First of all I can't believe I have reached 300 followers on my little 'ole blog. It started as a lark for my poetry and now people actually read it... amazing. Now how many of those 300 actually come back and read I'll never know but it is still fun to watch the numbers grow.
I must admit I did do a little soliciting for the last couple of followers on Facebook and twitter, and it worked. My 300th follower was my blogger friend Jules from Just Jules. Go check out her blog, it's great. She speaks her mind and has funny, thoughtful and beautiful posts. She is also a great photographer.

Now for the musical part of the program... I know I have already highlighted Train but I wanted to let you all know about the concert. The gig was at the MGM Grand at the Foxwoods Resort Casino. What a lovely venue for a concert. I has plush seats, carpeting and a great view. Any seats would allow a superb view of the band. I am used to standing room only bars or huge venues so this was a treat

We originally went to the upper tier, as instructed, but we were actually on the lower level in better seats. Of course up front is always best but there were big screens and the sound system was awesome.
I have been following Train on twitter [@train ] trying to figure out who was opening for them and at one point I thought it was Lifehouse and then realized it was most likely Butch Walker [twitter @butchwalker ] I have a couple of Butch Walker cds so was excited to see him as well..... but when the show started it was none other than Train.
They were great and started with a new song, Parachute, and continued with their big hits and several from the new cd. They even played a Led Zepplin song....[can't remember the name at the moment but Pat's voice has the high range for it]
They had some of the audience come up on the stage a couple of times and he changed his shirt at one point revealing he works out. He did tease about his diminutive size. He was animated and interactive which lends to the enjoyment of the show for me.
I have no complaints about Train's performance just the lack of an openning act. I like to either see a couple of bands I like or listen to one I don't know and hopefully find some new music. Butch Walker played in Boston on Saturday so when he tweeted Friday he was in Boston I figured he would be in Foxwoods as well... no such luck. Train also played in Northampton, Massachusetts Sunday night, we chose not to go to that show since it was a work/school night........guess what? Train tweeted on Sunday night that Northampton rocked along with................ Butch Walker and Black Widow. Not just one opening act but two. Sorry but I can't help but feel a bit ripped off. The tickets were not expensive, as concerts go, but it is always nice to get more for your money.
Would I see Train again? In a heart beat. Both my daughters loved the show and it was a good night.
Pictures thanks to my daughter @ Something about nothing and everything else

Loved reading your blog...you should go and check out the music post I made on Friday that made me giggle so hard. Its episodes of line dances from the 70's on SoulTrain
congrats on 300...sounds like a great show. love when they interact with a crowd, it adds so much and makes you a part of the experience...
Congrats on your 300th follower! I consider you very cool for going to the concert!
I just discovered your blog. You have 300 followers because it's a wonderful read! I'm adding myself to your list (oh, and I adore Just Jules, too!).
300 followers that's amazing. You have a great blog, why wouldn't people want to follow you!!
Congrats on 300! I think you're fab! Glad the concert was so great! Have a magical Monday!
I can never remember the name of any Led Zep song- love them- but for the life of me can't figure out their names! And way to go- over 300 followers- Aphrodite is green with envy!
Thanks so much for joining in! I sent you an email with the info I need from you...glad to have you along!
congrats on the 300............the show looks awesome;)
Wow 300! That is a lot of followers!
I like Train! I haven't had the pleasure to see them yet. Not many bands come to Tucson so I have to drive 2 hours to Phoenix to see a show..only 2 artists I will do that for...bet you can guess who! LOL!
I like opening bands at concerts too. I remember when Sarah Maclachlan opened for the Grapes of Wrath in 1989 and I thought she was awesome. She rose to the top and the faeture band, Grapes of Wrath is now a total has-been. Opening acts also keep latecomers from ruining the main act when they squeeze by you and spill beer on your shoe. - G
Hi, I was only going to stop by to tell you how to get the number of your tweet because I read your entry at A Nut in a Nutshell give-away. It's really quite easy. When you tweet you'll see underneath in red how many secs/mins ago you tweeted double click on that you'll go to another window it's your tweet & see the address on top highlight that copy it because that's the address of your tweet & there ya go! As I was here I started reading your blog. It's so cool, so now I'm following you too. My hubby has a band & he's done some openings for other bands in his time. I'll send him over cuz he blogs too. Well, nice to meet you. Have a great day! Good luck on the give away. Any questions feel free to come by & I'll try o help.
It's awesome you're doing the swap!
Congrats on 300!
And I LOVE Train. Don't hear em much anymore on the radio, but I love em anyway!
Glad you enjoyed Train - sounds wonderful. Just realized today its almost 2 years since our last concert - big concert (Springsteen and E-Street). Need to fix that.
The reason we keep coming back is because your blog is excellent!
I'm with you on opening acts at shows. I love opening acts and you really do get to discover new music. The show I wish I'd been able to see (I was too young and in the wrong continent) was one of The Police's tours of the States in the very early 80s: they were supported by a then unknown band called REM... :)
Everyone already said it, but you have 300 followers because you're blog is fun to read and always entertaining.
I've been debating about going to see Train at Ravinia this year - it's an awesome outdoor venue to bring your own food and booze and picnic. Now I think I'll get tickets :)
That sounds like a fun show!
I always read your poetry, though sometimes I don't comment b/c I think you will think I'm a dork for not having anything else to say but "fabulous! Love this!" even though I do.
I really love their new song and I'm sure I would have loved it too. But yes, an opening act would have been nice!
You know, I should take up concert-going again. The last gig I took in was Pat Benatar and Blondie, and that was last summer! I do like Train. I associate their music with my cherubs from a few years back...
Funny, I was with some friends on Saturday (showing their son some condos) and they had been at the Train show at Foxwoods. She was pleased with it, too.
Congrats on reaching 300 followers. I admit I am still a little caught up in the follower-thing. Don't really know how to go about 'advertising' myself though.
Hi I love reading your posts and think you deserve a lot more than the 300 mark. Congrats anyways and keep posting.
I love Train and what a great venue to see them in. I saw Jamie Cullum there and you're right about the seats.
It's interesting about bands. I saw Train when they were the opening act for Matchbox 20 and then again when they performed alone (note - Lifehouse isn't a stand alone band yet? huh).
Lucky you.
If there is one thing I really miss about being unemployed it would be going to concerts.
BTW, I totally glossed over the fact you have 300 followers...CONGRATS!!!!!
Ohhh so jealous! Looks awesome. Call me! I'll go next time. :)
