Friday 55

I saw my first
Crocus today.
Thought it an illusion,
As I drove away.

Small and graceful,
They sway in the wind.
Subtle and beautiful,
I looked and grinned.

Home at last,
I glance around.
In my yard to see,
All that are found.

Rise me up,
From winters gloom
Crocuses do your thing-
Bloom

Why is it called Crocus if it is the first thing alive in Spring? shouldn't they be called Resurrection?

Your 55 could not have come at a better time with Spring having finally arrived. I loved the way you took something simple crocuses and came up with beautiful poetry like that.

Have a great weekend!

I love the arrival of spring (except for the hayfever that comes with it.) Though of course, we've just entered autumn down here...

All the years I lived in a cold climate I searched for these lovely flowers starting in late February. The are the first hopeful sign of warm weather and when they're seen everyone gets excited.

You've painted the lovely crocus so I could see it. They would make me smile too. But not today. It's snowing!

Thanks for visiting my blog and my 55. I like yours. The bottle and all!

Oh, Spring, come to us quickly! Wish I had the crocus in the yard--only dandelions here. But who cares, I love them anyway! D

Your poetry is always great, I think I may sit down this weekend and see if I can't come up with a poem, I haven't written one in ages, but you are inspiring me today!

Indeed. Down here things have been popping up for quite a while now. But the only ones I can identify are the daffodils, and they're mostly gone.

As cute and sweet as the little purple flowers.

I could sure use some of those blooming crocuses around here. Instead, I get two kids down with colds.

A very nice post :)
I don't think we get these in Albuquerque. My springtime poem would have a lot less to do with flowers and a lot more about allergies. Ugh!!!

Nice!

And I'm amused that a flower is called a crocus.
