Sunday Rerun-Fourteen
Originally posted February 28, 2009
[a year ago today, a total coincidence and she is still challenging us at 15]
Fourteen
She rolled her eyes,
And shook her head.
Listening to me talk,
Her mind full of dread.
She didn't care,
What I had to say.
Plotting her escape.
How to get away.
Hot tempered, opinionated,
And stubborn is she.
Sensitive and smart,
Just like her mother, me.
Mystifying and relaxed
Anger fades as soon as started.
Comforting, loving
Forgotten angst soon departed.
Years gone by, we'll have a laugh
Happy that, they did pass.
How being fourteen she did sass,
And very nearly kicked our ass.

That is a magic age, like all of the teen years.
ha. cute verse...it is a magical age...the end gave me a chuckle...
Ah yes! I have one near this age myself!
I can see this in my near future already with my 3 1/2 year old!
ahhhhhhh teenage yrs, they were so painful...glad Im old now;)
It's part of growing up - adolesence and revolt go hand in hand!
When they are in their teen years it is hard to imagine it will ever pass. It passes. That brings a lot of blessings, but other worries.
Oh well, it's all good. :)

That age kicks everyone's ass! Parents and ironically enough, the teen too!
And a happy birthday to her!
It's that awkward age...
At 14, I knew everything! Oh, wait, I still do! hahaha!
Great poem! I'm sure I was a perfect angel when I was 14, though. ;-)
Love the last two lines.
I sort of feel like that with my daughter. Only she's two.
I get the feeling you'll be posting the same post every year for years to come ;)
Oh, 14 can take a mama down....hoping 15 starts to look better!
This is sweet...as she nears 16, I foresee curse words working their way into your poetry.
My "he" that is 16 is still in this phase. Oh, please let it be a phase.
How I miss that age. Awesome post!

Oh yes... I know what you mean, 17, 15 and 12 here.
Can't we all identify with that? Whether as a mother or a daughter.
I think we all remember what we were like at 14...and then our children put us through it and we realize it's just "that age."
This made me smile - I remember those days! Thanks for sharing.
