Sunday Rerun-Happiness is a Room Inside My Head

I was talking to a friend and she used the line "Happiness is a room inside my head" and I said that would make a great poem. Well here it is.....

Happiness is a Room Inside My Head

Hope is often hard to find,
In the corridors of the mind.
The halls that lead to the different rooms,
Are dark and dusty, and saddness looms.

Walk in the dark and look for the door,
Keep your heart hopeful as you search for more.
Look for the room where happiness lives,
Try all the keys until the lock gives.

Never give up if the the key isn't found,
Search inside yourself and look around.
Open the window and raise the shades,
Keep searching the rooms until saddness fades.

The room is there, always was,
Happiness returns, at least you hope it does.
It may be short lived, even fleeting,
So grab with both hands and give it a greeting.

Remember with happiness, you make it yourself,
Don't rely on anyone else.
Find it where you can and treasure it,
And make copies of the key and share it.

The poem illustrates the notion of going to our happy place in our minds. It really can work too!

I love this poem! I think that everyone should have a secret room in their heads where they can go, just to get away from the normal Humdrum things of life, and day-dream for a couple of hours!
My place is full of memories...a bit like my own private library, where I can take out a memory and look at it ...then put it back, where it belongs!

I try to think of something early in the day that I can use as a flip-switch when my mood gets ugly.

You have room inside your head?

You know, someday if I ever get around to cleaning up all this porn, I might too.

Nah.

Too many people choose not to be happy. We all have a place inside ourselves where we can find joy.

With like 145% of us experiencing SAD right now (well, except for the Floridians), this reminds me to blow out the cobwebbs of my Happy Place and pull in a stool to sit and do some Jell-O shots. It's not all gloom, despair, and desperation...sometimes it's pinatas.
