My daughter started this plant with one leaf in 3rd grade as part of a project. She is a sophomore in high school. Kinda neat I thought.
This umbrella tree was given to me as a wee plant at my bridal shower. Odd gift I thought but 29 years later I still have the plant....much much bigger, and I still have the friend who gave it to me. [and the husband]

These were given to me this Christmas by a couple of good girlfriends. They are only 4 or 5 inches tall. Aren't they adorable and so cute on my tree.
If you are ever looking for the glasses, they come in this cute box. Lolita also sells fun full size martini glasses. I own two :)
Yeah I know this makes me look like a lush but they are so cute.

wow, the story behind the plants is way cool...and u know i love martinis, i so want some of those glasses;)
The plants are so cool. I don't think I could keep them alive that long!
Bwahahaha...I was SO sure you were going to say you had the plant and the friend, but not the husband. What a nice change from the norm. Congrats on sticking it out with the plants. Just goes to show...patience really is a virtue. I don't think martini ornaments make you look like a lush. I think a Christmas tree shaped like a martini glass would make you look like a lush.
Nice plants!
The glasses are adorable.
Those glasses are CUTE!
Great stories behind the plants. I would kill stuff like that with my black thumb. Cute glasses!
The fact that your plants are alive gives you my undying respect. Because all green things die when I am around.
It's good that my kids are not green.
I like the martini glasses - but is it bad that I like the box even more?!

My gf would love the martini glasses for her tree. She has one garland made out of corks and another from beer bottle caps (yes, she is single).
I'll let her know.
Don't worry. You appear as a lush no matter what you post.
xoxo
Those glasses are adorable! And what a great shower gift...the gift that grows with your relationship. I'll think of that next time I'm trying to come up with a bridal shower gift.
Ooooh, I love those glasses!
Blimey, a 29-year old house plant! I struggle to keep them alive for a week, let alone 29 years! :D
Holy Crap!!! Talk about a green thumb!!! I can't get moss to live.
How ever do you manage that sentimentality along side your cool air of purposeful detachment? How special are those little martini glasses and the plant from your daughter. What is most special is that you have preserved them and cherish them. Thanks for sharing.
Wow... I would have killed anything green growing in my house by now. Well done you!!!
Great pics, thanks for sharing ;)
Wah! So cuuute :>
I especially liked the glasses.
I second the motion, they're adorable!
Those are cool stories. I was given a tree as a newly single gift from a friend to celebrate my pending divorce, (I had been seperated a year at that point) around the same time John and I started dating. I couldn't kill the thing- those that know me (and are surprised I managed to keep four kids alive ;) ) were shocked and I jokingly refered to it asJohn and I's "love tree". (It was the same "age" as our relationship. Then we had to evacuate our house in Rutland and leave it behind (the thought being by the professionals that it's dirt or something could be harboring the deadly spores. :( It's nice to have things in our home that tell "our story" I think. And those mini glasses are just plain cute!
nice. bet you get some neat memories every time you look at those plants. hope you have a great weekend!
I followed you over here from another blog and can already tell I like you a lot!
I want those martini glasses!
And I LOVED your poem.
Spoke to me :-)

The stories on the plants are awesome. How cool to have those for so long. Sophia's first plant died a swift and hopefully painless death just weeks after we planted. And we accidentally froze the Shefeflaera we had befroe we were married last year! Oops! That rocks that you stil have those!
Nice glasses. Love the martini ones. Plants, they hate me 'cause I don't play well with them. But you little miss green thumb...I'm impressed.

Wow! How do you keep those plants alive for so long? Impressive!
Happy SITS Saturday sharefest!
At least you are a lush with cute things.
Wow - ur place is a houseplant jungle!
Love the glasses!!!
So did you hear chelsea handler say that she is switching to Belvedere because it's the only truly sugar free vodka??? I know. I had to tell you.
That is so cool about the violet and the ficus. You have to keep the umbrella alive. I received a tree as a wedding gift. When it died, so did the marriage....or something like that!
I love love love those glasses - soooo cute!!!
I'm a plant killer, so to me that's totally awesome that you've had those for so long! Those glasses are really cute! Thanks for coming by today and commenting! I'm following you now!
We have an asparagus fern that my sis gave to my Mom on Mother's Day when the kid was 13. The plant will turn 39 in May.
That's so cool that you have both of those plants. I'm not great at keeping plants alive.
It is a wonderful lesson for children to see a plant grow from a single leaf. Means a lot to me too.

I so wish that my plants would grow like that...but I assume that you haven't got a parrot that tries to eat them!!
I have the same Snowman martini glass ornament- it's my fav!
Stopping by from SITS :)
