Music Monday-Powderfinger

I "stole" this meme from Steven at No excuse, No explanation and since I love music too, I try to participate and share some of my favorite music from time to time. So make sure you visit Steven too.

An Australian friend recently introduced me to a band called Powderfinger.  They are an Australian band [seems obvious I know but isn't always the case] and I love them. I would classify them as a rock/pop band. I have asked several Aussie friends what they thought of the band and I have received replies such as too mainstream, overplayed, love them to great. These Aussie friends are internet friends but I have known most of them for years. I met them on a Robbie Williams fan site [see link on left side bar]. Since I work nights while they are awake I have gotten to know them very well. Since we met on a musical site, albeit a site for a singular pop star, we are all music fans none the less. This has been a great source of music exchange for all involved. Australia is on my list to visit. [I figure I can stay in most cities free I have met so many great people].

I had never heard of them before and I have no idea if they have tried to "break America". No matter with such good friends I have been able to aquire a fair amount of their music already. They are also available on itunes and I even found one cd in my favorite music store, Newbury Comics.

Here are a couple of  my favorites........... so far

I love, love, LOVE finding music outside of the states. I've been stalking British musicians ever since we were in England a few years back. And when we were in Italy, I took my Zune so I could tune into Italian radio stations. If I have to listen to American pop, I think my ears will just bleed out. So, any chance to find other music makes me so happy I could squeal.

You know what else? Apparently, Powderfinger has been around so long that they have a "Best of" album on iTunes AND their songs are still 99 cents (in a world of $1.29, I really appreciate that!) I love this meme. Can we keep it? Pretty please?

They remind me a little bit of a 90's band called the Nixons. Check out an album called FOMA. there are some phenomenal songs on it.

"Powderfinger" have been around for a while, and sang on Heath Ledgers movie "Two Hands",(1999). They were around long before that though.
Gosh, this is the last thing that I expected to hear today!
I get so excited when someone finds some band that are very little known outside of the U.K. or America.
I'm pleased to find that they are finally being recognised globally now! It has taken them years to get to where they are now.
"These Days" is one of my favourites and has been on my i-pod for at least four years now.

I can't believe you posted Powedrfnger - rock on! My former flat mate is Australian and he introduced me to them - another good Aussie band is the Living Ends!

I've never heard of them, but really like their sound. Going to order their CD.

They remind me a bit like a cross between Coldplay and Train.
