Eddie Izzard Rocked Boston

Last night my daughters and I went into Boston to see Eddie Izzard at the TD Garden. It was the first time for us to see a comic in a big venue. Surprisingly, to me, the Garden was almost full. I found when I told people I was going to see Eddie Izzard it was either, cool or who?

My daughters are both more familiar with the comedy of Eddie Izzard but what I have seen I have enjoyed. We have a couple of dvds which I have watched.

We started by going to dinner at Porters Bar and Grill, recommended by my husband. The food was tasty and the restaurant was located basically across the street from the venue. We had a few appetizers and drinks [well I had a couple of drinks] and then headed to the venue. I should add here as we walked from the car to the restaurant a creepyish guy standing on a street corner told me I had beautiful daughters. I thanked him with a grim look and we continued to walk.

After dinner we had some time to kill so we sat in relative warmth in North Station [train station located at the venue] and as it got closer to show time we queued up with the others and eventually were let in to the Garden.  I got a beer and we found our seats. They were excellent.

There were a couple jumbotrons that was showing @eddieizzard twitter feed. It was very cool as there were twitters from all over the world saying hello to Eddie and Boston. My daughter and I twittered, hers made the screen, mine didn't. During the show the screens showed Eddie doing his thing.

At this point I was losing some of my strength. I had worked the night before and was surviving on a short nap. I enjoyed the show and he was very funny, the entire venue was laughing throughout the whole show.  My daughters were in hysterics the entire two plus hours he was on stage. The man has stamina and only took one fifteen minute intermission. [twitter in photo says @schleyguy This is a great way to start 2010 by seeing you!]

Watching some of his clips on youtube I would describe him as an historical comic. Last night he was constantly referencing Wikipedia [had a funny bit about who must work there] and did his take on historical events and even dinasaurs. It is a different kind of comedy and it worked well. He made several references to himself being a transvestite [see clip] but for this tour he was dressed "normally" you could see he was wearing eyeliner and mascara.

I bought a program and a coffee cup that says "Cake or Death". [see below for a laugh] The girls bought tee shirts. We didn't get home until 1am and kudos to my daughter for driving us home while her sister and I slept.

Enjoy this clip...recommended by oldest daughter.

I love comedy shows and always like to hear when someone enjoys one. I have been to a lot of bad ones so now I only go if the comedian is recommended.

What a great time! And I totally get the concept of "cake or death" If I couldn't have cake anymore, well...it wouldn't be pretty.

Great lists....

Like you, I watch Stargate Universe and Big Bang Theory.

I have Hung on DVR and need to watch it.

I occasionally watch 2 and 1/2 Men, but think Charlie Sheen is a scumbag.
