The following review is for adults only. It is a book review for Eden Fantasys. Although it is written in a hopefully tasteful manner it is an adult product none the less. I was provided with the books by Eden Fantasies but was in no way compensated for this review.
I was approached by Eden Fantasys and asked if I wanted to do a review of one of their products. I agreed and checked out their website. It took me a week or so to decide what I wanted to review. They have every adult product you could possibly want. Clothes, toys, candles, creams, book and videos to name a few.
I finally decided to review a couple of books. Having read several reviews of Eden products I had not seen any book reviews. The choices were approved and promptly sent to me.
One of the books was The Mammoth Book of Erotica "Newly revised and updated, this fantastic anthology of erotic short stories features some of the best piece of erotic fiction ever written with new pieces commissioned just for this edition."
This book was hard for me to get interested in. The stories were on the longer side and frankly didn't interest me. The stories were dry and frankly boring.
The stories averaged from 10-50 pages. Granted they aren't overly long but the print was small and for a quick fun read that made it more difficult.
A couple of the authors included in the book are Anne Rice and Clive Barker. Noted authors amongst other names I didn't recognize. That doesn't mean they are'nt well known, just not to me. Perhaps the attempt to be literature was lost on me. I just wanted some quick titillating stories.
Some of the story titles include Two at Once by Robert Silverberg, Death by Seduction by Catherine Sellars, Beauty's Punishment by Anne Rice and The Age of Desire by Clive Baker.
I do plan to give the book another chance. The holidays are over and the kids are back at school [not something I can sit and read in the family room] so perhaps I'll have more time.
The second book I chose was Oysters and Chocolate. "This is an elegant and sophisticated collection of short stories that whet the erotic appetite and leave the reader wanting more. The stories are the perfect length for reading to a lover before bedtime and each sizzles from the first sentence."
This book was much more to my liking. It too was short stories and you could read a story in a quick single session. The characters or plot could not be developed like a longer story or novel, but is that really the point?
Another bonus of this book was the stories were "coded" by genre. If there was a particular erotic topic you liked you could skip around the book. These topics included Vanilla-a classic, sweet, and romantically decadent dish, Dirty Martini-a distinctive, exciting cocktail with a naughty twist, [no kidding and I didn't know this when I chose it, honest], Licorice Whips-a wild and strong-flavored course that spanks the tongue with heat and bite and Oysters-firm and sensual--with deep, round cups, sweet scents, and exclusively feminine flavors.
I have jumped around the book and read some of each genre and found most of them interesting on some level. As most stories some are better than others. A plus in the second book, the font was bigger.
I found neither book distasteful, in my opinion the sex scenes were descriptive without being crass. The stories left a tingle and were fun to read, especially on a drab day. A little titillation is certainly a fun way to spend an afternoon or evening or morning or Saturday... I think you get my point.

Well, gee. I have never had my tongue spanked. Isn't that a descriptive way to get my attention!!
I may have to check this book out.
Notty books? I think I will check them out.
Love the honesty in your reviews!
I agree... I prefer my stories to be short and to the point... having to wade through pages of character development isn't why I read erotica... Seriously I don't really care about the character's motivation for wanting to screw his neighbor beyond "she was sunbathing in a skimpy bikini"...
Well spank my tongue and call me a preeevert. :) LOL!
Hey, are you recovered from the big election hoopla yesterday?
I adore Anne Rice erotic work...do you know if these were new stories or just reprints of some of her older ones?
cool review;)
interesting pre bed reading. smiles.
Interesting! I won some toys from Eden Fantasys - perhaps I need the books, too! :D
Love your honesty but more importantly that they reached out to you for your opinion. Good on them too.
I had no idea they even sold books! Thanks for the real story on these!
You said it was adult! I wanted to see some boobies! hahaha!
i've never heard of or seen these books, but the covers are kinda cool. thanks for the honest review!
So how do you get gigs like this?!
Sounds fun for a girl who loves romance novels. Now that I am not preggers I can take it up a notch! I don't want my tongue spanked though! Great review. I had no idea this kind of thing was out there!
Umm...would you excuse me for a few minutes? Thanks.
Sounds very fun & interesting. I really appreciate your insight & honesty. I could use a little "help" sometimes in this area.
I would not try to review books myself, because everyone's taste are different, but erotic literature is mostly the same whatever I've seen.
Secretia
Interesting......
If I read something like that my husband would be all, "Woohoo, got any tips?"
I've never found any erotica I liked...but that second one sounds interesting. I may have to check it out!
I didn't know that they had books. But its great that they reached out to you. Good review. I like my books short and to the point too.
Came on over here from the SuferWife. Love this review! LOL Maybe the books would be better with wine.
That's what I like about you - your unreserved honesty. I had no idea they sold books - thanks for the excellent review! :)
After Anne Rice experienced her "conversion" where she renounced all of her evil vampire ways, I'm surprised she would be associated with the likes of erotica. But sometimes the need to pay the bills trumps all else. Also, I said something about The Bloggess's sex blog that she writes on Twitter and now I have a TON of erotic authors following me. How random. If you're into this, I can definitely get you more titles from them. They are all about tongue spanking and cocktails with a naughty twist.
PS I truly LOVE your AG idea. I wish it had occurred to me at the time. I generally don't threaten legal action and to be honest, I think it would have been lost on her - but totally worth a shot.
I wandered over here from from SurferWife. :)
A review of erotic literature sounds kinda fun. I'd always heard of erotic literature, but kinda thought it was a thing of the past what with all the college co-ed and MILF porn out there.
Never knew they sold books either!
I didn't realize they sold books. Something else to check out.
