Where do I get my blog ideas?

I would first like to thank http://www.napwarden.com/ for my Christmas decorations.. it is snowing on my blog.. I love it.

I posted on Facebook via twitter "Anyone have any suggestion for a blog topic?" I should have known better, it took on a life of its own. I have taken a screen shot so you can see what I mean. The suggestions went from the serious to the ridiculous to silly. I just love my Facebook friends.

worth it !

As you can see the suggestions were varied. Some of them I might just tackle some day. Not sure about the "There was this one time.... on the toilet"  sorry Adam. Although I have done something similar already...Life Sucks and then you Trash your Panties  Colleen suggested "Why everyone hates the US?" Now that could be a book and not sure I want to discuss politics.

The first suggestion from Jackie was "why a pop star would pretend to be engaged" I suggested it was because he is an attention whore. The pop star in question is Robbie Williams. That led to Adams suggestion about " Attention Whores vs Bloggers-The Battle of Narcissism" which is sort of where I am headed here.

Bloggers like to have their egos stroked. I don't think there is any question. We post links to our blogs on twitter, Facebook,  Reshouts.com and any number of sites. We have memes [which I still don't know what it means exactly] and when ever we are lucky enough to post on another site we always include links.

This is not a criticism as I am as "guilty" as the next blogger. I have said before, and it is true, I started this blog for me but once I got a few readers and enjoyed the comment love there was no stopping me....

I now have a great bunch of loyal commenters and we pass the love around. I have a lot of blogs that I read and I always have something to say.... no surprises there I suppose.

Bottom line.. egomaniac, narcissist, attention whore, blogger.... if the shoe fits, wear it.

Haha the first meme I did I just assumed it meant ME ME ME ME ME ME! Nothing more narcissisitc than that huh! I love them though.

I blog about my life and my thoughts and I want to meet friends who share their own lives and passions and ideas. And I want to be a shoulder to cry on - completely selfless, when any of my bloggy friends need me.

Everyone has been wonderful to me for this stressful time and I know that you are an attention whore with a heart of gold!

I should post on fb and see what people suggest!

I'm not an attention whore. I'm an attention SLUT. There's a difference. : )

And, hello, what exactly is a MEME??

I've never believed anyone who said that they don't care if anyone comments or not. I started my blog just to write and see what would come of it. I had no idea what it would feel like to get a comment. But when I got my first one and it felt fabulous to be heard, I was hooked. To outsiders, it may seem like blogging is a narcissistic pursuit, but the people who read and comment are really the stars on my blog. Without them, why would I do it? We have notebooks and pens for private journaling. Anyways, I'm thoroughly enjoying your blog. Thanks! - G

I love that it's snowing on your blog!

I also had no idea what it would be like to get comments and gain followers when I started. I didn't know much at all about blogging. Now I'm hooked. If I could get together with my girlfriends everynight and talk to them, maybe I wouldn't need blogging, but for now it's a great way to get things out of my head. And get feedback from others. And feed my ego!

I love the snow!! I would pose the same question to my fb friends, but I blog anonymously...so that would defeat what I'm doing, I suppose. Oh well!

I'm right with you! I looked up meme and it means something like an idea that gets passed around and takes on a life of its own. It's a scientific term that the internet has appropriated.

Christiejolu said...

Love the snow!

magda said...

So glad I am not the only one questioning the exact meaning of Me Me. I will go with MW's explanation. I love your blog and your energy. I appreciate your presence on my blog and am inspired by you and others like you who are helping me to find my way in the blogosphere. I started initially to unburden myself and then found connection. Now, I am enjoying the networking and technology aspects and hope I will learn to write posts and comments that will compel others. I feel fortunate to have discovered so many great blogs to read. Many thanks to you for all your leads.

Oh, I am totally unashamed of my attention-whore-yness.

OBVIOUSLY. ;-)

I love the snow.

I love comments. Occasionally, I forget to feed my children because I'm checking constantly for comments. It's disgusting, really.
I'm a commentaholic. Or something like that.

OMG. You hit the nail on the head. I can only imagine what kind of responses I would get if I asked on Facebook.

I saw that last line and totally thought you'd written a blog entry all about me. :) HA!

Some days I have something to blog about. Other days I can ramble about nothing at all. Someone needs to chain me to something on those days.

I spy a whore in your comment thread and its name is anonymous! It comes bearing gifts of great porn.

The best part of blogging to me is in the relationships. The more we interact with each other out here, the friendlier we become, and the more fun it gets! It's like a big orgy of whores!

Brian Miller said...

yep, those shoes come in just my size...lol.

1. love the blog snow
2. love the blog in general
3. we got actual snow today in TEXAS...so I'm pretty stoked
4. I blog about everything that irks me, makes me laugh, or just needs to be addressed, a very random assortment!

Every time I get a new comment, my stomach flutters.

When I see I have a new follower, my eyes bug out and I smile like a goober.

Today is my SITS day. Imagine what I've been doing all damn day.

Attention whore? Yeah, to say the least.

I'm impressed you can post so much. The followers on my blog seem to inch up at a rateof about 1 a month. At this rate I'll be lucky to get to 100 by the time I'm too decrepid to blog.

Did someone say whore?? I got 5 bucks! Oh damn, this is not that site! hahaha!

Stephanie Faris said...

Oh my! That's awesome. I learned long ago not to ask for suggestions...I ended up with more than I could ever want and people actually were hurt when I didn't do theirs.

Helene said...

Love the snow!!! Wow, you got a ton of ideas for blog posts! My kids and husband provide plenty of fodder for me to write about. It's inevitable that a day will not go by without something funny or interesting (or disgusting) happening that I can blog about.

I thought I'd finally stop by and say hello! I see your comments on many of the blogs I read so I figure we must share the same taste in reading!!

Flory said...

Haha - I love this! "Narcissist blogger".

I too started my blog for me, and then I started to get readers, then comments, and finally followers! You feel really important when someone reads what you wrote, and has something to say about it, whether they agree with you or not.

I guess the shoe fits here. :)

Blogging has definitely been a "learning experience" for me, and I'm well into my 2nd year. Have to say, though, that the whole bloggy janx is still primarily by me, of me, and for me. Isn't it funny how some of these online forums do take on a life of their own?

Sophia's Mom said...

Well put! ANd let me tell you, boy does the shoe fit!
If I don't get at least 10 comments on a post, I feel like a failure! When did that start to happen?

Tami @ HeartsMakeFamilies said...

I'm scared of what my FB friends would say. LOL Some of them are done right snots.

Oh wow.. I love this post. I have thought about soliciting advice for posts on facebook as well.
Looks like it could be interesting.

I too started my blog for me, but love the connections I have made along the way. "Attention whore".. classic!
