What's the first thing you do when you get home?

I posted this comment on twitter, which then automatically posts to Facebook.

"What's the first thing you do when you get home from work? I take off my bra and say ahhhh"

Little did I know so many would have something to say.

Facebook generated 13 comments.. such as:

"i don't work a paid job, but yeah, when I walk in the door, same!!!" by KW

"are you sure your wearing the right size?? (an ad on tv just asked haha-)"  by  EN
She also didn't mind wearing bras because she has pretty ones.. she is also very young. 'nuf said. And yes I am sure it is the right size I was measured the last time I bought some... read here

DB said "burn the bra I reckon....lol....its shoes off at the door and then its the bra flung across the room ...then im happy lol"

I love DB,  I knew I liked her.

TM also agreed "1st the shoes then everything else. i don't wear a bra for longer than i have to.. hate 'em."

"bloody pain in the arse bra's are but if I dont wear one "they" head in the wrong direction lol"

Can you tell PB is British.. love her too.

Finally on FB KM said "lol funny. I noticed when you go in a aged care facility...if it makes you feel better....not many people wear bras. So you all eventually will be 'loose' women pmsl "

I am ready for the old folks home now it seems.

twitter generated a few comments as well.

@Nuria1966 said "Me too LOL and don't forget the shoes!!"

@TechnicalParent said "Start cooking."

Was nice to have a man weigh in.. but what's cooking? I was at least glad he didn't say he took off his bra too.

@V_Uncorked agreed "Oh God me too."

So it seems that most ladies that answered my question take their bras off when they get home.

I can't forget Mr Condescending's comment "I do the Al bundy"

I wish it was that simple. And thanks for the visual Mr. C.

I did a  brief google search of who invented the bra and it went way way back to the corset and bodice ... yawn and then I found out the modern bra was invented by a..........................woman.

I can't tell you how betrayed I feel. How could a woman do this to her fellow sister. It has created a need in woman to confine things that should be allowed to breathe. Since society has deemed the saggy breast undesirable I too conform when out in public [well except when I might run a kid to school or drive to the drive up for coffee, sweatshirts rule] but I have been known to do the "voila nothing up my sleeve" removal of my bra in the car on my way home from where ever.

The second worst inventioin...the panty hose.

So answer me this in your comments.. What is the first thing you do when you get home? Or more specifically what is the first thing you take off... and I don't mean your coat.

It doesnt matter what time of day it is, the minute I walk in all my clothes come off, I walk around a minute or two nude, untill the cat runs and hides, then I know its time to put on my comfy hoodie and flanell pants;) this is my routine every day...arent you glad you asked...lol

Well I DID answer you on twitter.

I do the Al Bundy.

I never understood what that crap means when they say "18 hour bra" or something like that. Are they disposable or something?

shoes and socks. I feel like i am smothering with them on so they have to go. I hate wearing a bra but i usually get busy and forget to take it off so i end up wearing the damn thing all day!!!

Shoes and then clothes, including the bra, and then into soft clothes.....

Freakishly and unsurprisingly, I prefer wearing a bra 24/7. I have soft t-shrity ones for sleeping. I need for my pepperonis to not rub back and forth on my shirt. They are super sensitive...TMI. Any rubbing on them will not be coming from my shirt.

First things I do: pee while taking off shoes, wash hands and face.

What?? For real? I wouldn't even think to take mine off. I mean I just feel more comfortable with it on then I don't jiggle around when I'm doing errands. :)

No one needs that visual! Plus like Magda said, if I didn't wear a bra I'd be saying hello all freaking day as my nips are sensitive as hell. I don't sleep in a bra and I swear my nipples are on duty all night long. Damn things.

I also meant to add that a bra shouldn't be uncomfortable - you shouldn't even notice it and if it is uncomfortable you're wearing the wrong size somewhere.

Since I don't have boobs, so rarely wear a bra, it would have to be shoes. I can't stand to wear shoes.

Usually can't wait to get the bra off, I take it off in the car on the way home, then it's shoes and a complete change of clothes, especially tight undies.
Then check the refrigerator of course.

To expound on my answer, really there are two answers and it depends on the day. On days I go straight from work to get kiddos, I get home and start water boiling or something pre-heating so as to make dinner. On the (now) rare day I can stop at home before heading to daycare, I do a complete wardrobe change from business (shirt/tie/etc.) to full casual (shorts/t-shirt/sandals).

I too free the sister's as soon as I get home and then put on my flannel pants and a tshirt. I was sure a man invented the bra. Torture!

Since I am the prez of the "itty bitty" club, I only wear bras to funerals weddings and nice restaurants. So first for me is shoes!

Sara said...

Um, I take off my pants. STAT.

Something about dress pants just makes me crabby.

The second I put on my jeans or PJs, I'm a much nicer person.

magda said...

I wish there were a clothing item that made me a nicer person, as I am sure my husband wishes the same.

Shoes off, tackled by two dogs, hug kids, check blog, pour a stiff drink!

Dunno. I don't get out much

I'm usually rushing to the bathroom since I want to get home to see my boys and don't stop before the drive home. Then I regret the decision when the dog follows me into the bathroom. Then the comfy clothes come on!

I wear cami's with built in bras whenever possible(which is 99% of the time), much more comfy.

Shoes off first, them straight to the bedroom to change into gym clothes; then look at my ass and wonder why my panty lines are so obvious and my butt isn't perkier.

Shell said...

I do kick off my shoes first, right at the door- unless I've already taken those off in the car.

Bra is next. I hate wearing them.

Amethyst Moon said...

Shoes!! It's a love hate relationship. i love to shop for them and buy them, but hate to wear them! As for the bra, well, pre-surgery when I was a size "G" I would have taken the bra off right away, but now: I don't even notice I'm wearing it!

i may seriously be in the minority here, but i pretty much wear a bra 24/7. most nights i even sleep in a bra. i'm more comfortable in them.

for me, i take off my jewelry and heels. if i'm wearing big bracelets and a big necklace it starts driving me crazy.

This question reminds me of my Mom. The first thing she'd do after we'd gotten in the car and left the church parking lot every Sunday was take off her stockings...and her bra!

AnnQ said...

It depends....When I go to the gym after work, the first thing I take off are my sneakers and icky wet socks. Gross.

Since I actually work from home and my work attire is primarily jammies and socks, when I'm out at a Lunch or doing something else in the real world, when I come home I immediately take off everything and put on SUPER comfy clothes.

I take off my shoes, hang them on a rack, and put on my houseshoes. I wear my bra all the time, unless I'm in bed. Isn't that weird?

Okay I am going to be the loser here. I am so pregnant and trying desperately to keep some semblance of nice boobs so I alwasy have a bra on! Now I have found bras that I love but still - these ever growing boobies need some support. And they hurt a lot so I change in the venings into an all soft one. And they (women who have had babies and still have awesome boobs) told me to sleep in this soft one to get used to it for nursing and for continued support and so I do. I will let you know if it works. It is more likely I will beg to get a boob job and never have to wear a bra again!

You are so funny BTW I love you!

Shoes first, then bra.

Alicia said...

Is it weird that I wear my bra all day? Mines only off for bed time! :) but I lose the pants asap...I'm all about comfy lounge pants at home. No jeans allowed!! Hilarious post btw!

Shoes off first, to keep the house clean(ish). If I'm home before 6, I'll put on a coffee, after greeting the family, and giving the dog some love -- he's such a suck!

carma said...

I immediately strip down and put on my "comfy clothes" read: sweats. My husband thinks I look hot in them - not. Oh, but the bra stays on :D

Love my bra and my shoes,.. make me feel sexy.. so, I keep 'em on. I go straight for coffee,... vice, vice.. prefer the wine straight away but that would make me look bad,.. very bad. Can't have that,.. I prefer bad to very bad.

Michelle said...

My shoes literallly come off as I walk in the door.

I dont mind the bra...I'm usually pregnant or nursing though.

A woman? I thought a man invented it because it's so dang uncomfortable.

One woman told me she had 2 types of bras, the one for out in public and the ratty at home ones. She even told me she slept in them. WTH?

Personally, I was left speechless and that doesn't happen often.

i am usually walking into the house with arms full of shit the kids took to school that day or shit they're bringing home from school...so I walk in the door, unload it all onto the table to later be disposed of (don't judge it's a lot of shit)...start dinner, start them on their homework...and THEN the pjs go on!

Shoes. Socks. Bra is shortly after that, though. ;)
