I hate to have to do this but I might have to turn on word verification. I have been getting spam daily from some Asian something or other... I get it everyday on the same post. Have a look even the google ads have gone Asian. There are 42 comments some I have already deleted, only 14 are real comments.
But.....and isn't there always one, they have been expanding to other posts as well. I got viagra spam today and have had a few more over the last couple of weeks.
If I have to get spam why can't it be useful, like diet tips or coupons for discounts on Coach purses. Vodka recipes would be appreciated.
So I apologize now for what is eventually going to happen... damn you spam.

Will it not let you block the spammer? I had one of those boogers not long ago but blocking him seemed to help. You might put the word out though to back up blogs - seems there is also a rash of hackery types out there causing a ruckus. My Rabbity Things got hit - stripped it back to a default minima blogger template - had to rebuild everything - and a few other have been hit as well. So be like Jesus, y'all! Save! Save! Save!

I didn't get to read yesterdays post..I was pretty sick again. But I take my Bra off as soon as I can when I get home. And I too am guilty of not wearing one when dropping my daughter off at school. Big bulky sweatshirts are the best. Unfortunately I have larger breasts, which a lot of women want, I find to be a pain in the... any way sometime if I don't wear one they hurt. But I hate Bras!

I'm getting the same thing, mostly on older posts.
I look at it this way;
I always moderate my comments and the short time it takes me to press "Delete" saves the aggrivation of using the word verification.
I hate word verification and will not subject my commentors to it if I can help it.

i just looked at those comments! that is crazy- a grillion comments in crazy letters- have you tried to translate them? maybe its some magic secret instructions to a hidden treasure. or a secret admirer who is afraid to tell you his feelings in english.

Well, if you have to do the spam verification thingy, make it so it is upfront. Sometimes, I leave a message and ping out right before the 2nd screen pops up asking for a word.

I haven't had much spam on The Bewildered Brit yet, but I'm not sure what to do about this.
In a previous blogging life I was on WordPress and there were some really great plugins for spam-filtering. I've found Blogger rather limited in what it can do on the "comment moderation" front.
I'd definitely recommend setting up automatic comment moderation on older posts.
I'm actually going to try turning off word verification in a bit, because it's extremely irritating, but I wish there were more options in blogger to control comments (e.g. I'd like to automatically star out cuss words in comments).
I quite like real spam, though. :D
If we could just get the spammers to work for the government, we would have found Bin Laden by now!

I, too have started to get an odd spammer turn up now and again, but I just delete it... or tell them what to do! For a while I was being bothered by this Russian, but that has now died down since I traced where he was coming from, and threatened to take matters further.
Usually I never even notice my spam box, and that empties itself after a week or so.
Please, no more Word Verifications! I hate the things with a passion!

oh that sucks. but is it weird that I don't even know what SPAM tastes like? because I am reading your post but it's making me hungry and I don't even know why, because I have never had this canned delicacy called SPAM.

I turned on my word ver for posts over 14 days old. They can only get to so many then, but who cares anyway, no one is reading that old stuff!!

I've been getting those lately, too - on old posts, so I updated the moderation to be turned on for posts older than so many days...so far the spamaholics haven't figured that one out...yet! ;)

I have temporarily reverted back to Blogger's comment form for the same reason! I am not crazy about having to do it but I was getting at 2 posts on every post I made old or new!
I am in the process of looking for a decent spam blocker now so I can use a different comment form.
If you have to moderate, then moderate! I will still comment as I am sure most of your loyal readers will!
