Poems Plight

I must pretend,
To smile pretty.
When in a rut,
And not so witty.

Rhymes don't come easy,
To me some days.
The mind a fog,
Thoughts in a haze.

I love to write them,
Read them, recite.
But I can't force it,
Never, not quite.

When they appear,
Behind my eyes.
They scream to come out,
My pen, it cries.

Writing quickly,
Before it is lost.
Onto the paper,
At any cost.

Many a poem,
I have forgotten.
Driving my car,
Trying to remember, I'm rotten.

Home I get,
And sit to write.
Out of my head,
The poem took flight.

Gone somewhere,
I never know,
Until once again,
It decides to show.

I hate it when I am driving and think of something clever, only to forget it later! I have recently started using the record function on my phone to note things.

I know just how you feel! Sometimes I get this brilliant idea, usually in the middle of the night, then by morning, I have completely forgotten what I was going to write about!
I loved your poem! I have started to keep some "back-ups" just in case!

Love this! And I can totally relate. I often think of a poem or something witty to write as I'm falling asleep or driving somewhere...then *poof*! it's outta my head and I can never remember what it was. ;)

I always think of BRILLIANT things while driving...only to forget them by the time I get home. I'll have to start using the voice recorder on my phone(so I can listen to it later and realize it wasn't that brilliant after all).

I have to sit and think about poems when I try to write one. I wish they come up easily.

HAve you ever taken any writing classes or is this a natural talent?

I missed your words. I am now moved in and designing again. The poem reminds me of me when designing a card. I am often scrambling for paper or repeating it to make it to home on a road trip. Thanks

I can very much relate to this! We all need a system to hang on to our brilliant thoughts!
