The Lone Twitter-er

I just deleted my entire blog so I am going to try and replicate its brilliance, so cut me some slack if this blog isn't what it was....not that you would know anyway...just saying...

I asked for a blog topic suggestion on Twitter earlier today and I got one from Throwing Quarters and I quote "why is it that when women get cold, nips get hard and stick out, but when men get cold everything shrinks." I think the saying applies "Beware what you ask for...." I told him it would take some research and I would have to get back to him. I hope he is patient.

This does lead me to the point of this post, Twitter. I love Twitter. It is a micro blogging site that is very popular at the moment. Twitter according to Wikipedia

You follow people, as it is referred to, and people follow you. You can post anything in 140 characters, including spaces. Beware what you say because there are what must be automatic followers and I have some odd people following me because I mentioned water or Australia. You can block people or make your Tweets private if you wish. Beware the porn followers, say Britney and you will have all kinds of disgusting following you...those I block. But don't be discouraged it doesn't happen that often. Just beause someone is following you, you don't have to follow them and vise versa...but enough of the technical stuff.

People Twitter for different reasons, some use it like instant messaging to chat, some just post updates on their blogs or websites. I use it for all those reasons and often times just to read and have a laugh. I mostly follow friends I have met in various places on the net and some celebrities and musicians.  I follow Diablo Cody (diablocody) who wrote the movie Juno and Caprice Crane (capricecrane) whom I had never heard of but is a Hollywood writer and several British commedians, Alan Carr (alancarr), Russell Brand (I can't think of his user name) and several others. I also follow a few bands, Stereophonics, Oasis and Rob Thomas. (i had nice links until I accidentally deleted the post and I can't be bothered now). You can see them all on my Twitter page and the link is on the side bar...have a look.

I also follow several bloggers that I enjoy reading and they "give good Twitter".  Did I just coin a phrase? If so I want credit when used. :-) This also brings me to another point of this blog post.

Referring to my last post "According to Facebook I am a Loner"  I really enjoyed reading the comments and learning I am not alone in my loner-ness. And Annonymous (Mom) I never knew that about you, very interesting. I always knew I was your favorite, an odd segue I know but so true (Just kidding-ish if my sisters should read) BUT I may have LIED. When I am on Twitter I am far from alone. There are loads of people twitting about, posting, lurking, laughing and blathering away. I may be alone physically but I am never alone on twitter. And should you decide to leave, no good byes or farewells necessary. Just hit the off button and poof...gone. Manners need not apply. What could be better than that.

Now you non-Twitter-ers (Webster is going to have add some new words to the dictionary) come join the fun and if you stop by say hi LauraBlue58 and I will show you around.

PS Twitter if you see this I could use some cash for childrens college bills and I am giving you free advertising.

I reserve the right to add to this as bits of the original blog filter back into my brain, so you may want to stop back later

dear vodka - i have seen your name many times and have been strangely drawn to it - perhaps b/c my fav drink is vodka and cranberry. which actually sounds great right about now.

visiting from SITS and excited about following you.

I made fun of Twitter in today's post, but I still love it.

I confess I have NO understanding of Twitter.

I, too love Twitter! The bad part is that some days I actually hit the refresh button repeatedly just to make sure I don't miss anything, and if this keeps up, I may need an intervention, but I can handle it! I can stop anytime, really, I can, but in the meantime, thanks for contributing to my habit you can officially call yourself an enabler, now (maybe you were already, I don't know) Have a good day! see you on the Tweet side.

I don't give good twitter. . . although I try to. . . I don't exactly get it. . .

twitter is something I really like to do.

way to go. I like Vodka!

I am still waiting for the answer to my question

I too have been waiting for the answer. I have my own ideas... but waiting to see what you think.

Now, I do not have a phone with the capabilities to twitter - thank goodness because if I did I swear I wouldn't get a dang thing done. My brain is one random thought after another - gah, my followers would have to have no life to follow me ;)

Anyway - thanks for stopping by. Come again. I'll have the drinks ready

I love the phrase "give good twitter!" (And, if I use it, I will give you credit!!)

I don't really know what to tweet about. That is, if I remember Twitter exists in the first place, which quite often I don't.

I heart the phrase "give good twitter" . And you mentioned Stereophonics- who I adore! I may just have to follow you on twitter!

WhiteSockGirl said...

I don't do twitter, and I don't get twitter. I know a lot of people who don't 'give good twitter'. Their tweets suck and I got them all..
I wrote a post about it some time ago,.. I really don't get it. I have been told I'm weird,.. maybe I am!

Twitter is wishing me a whole bunch of birthday wishes today so I'm in love with it. I'm easy like that! Love your blog by the way!

we seem to have lots in common. rob. twitter. grey goose. massachusetts. kids.
I have gotten very sucked into twitter. i have this week off from work and have found myself indulging in random stream of conciousness chats with likable folks. anonymously enjoyable.
i must admit i am feeling a bit guilty using up precious time, but on the flip side, it has been some "feel good" moments. Or as a good friend calls them, "legend points" i love that.

I joined Twitter when I left MySpace as a blogger. It was a way that my old followers could continue to follow me over here. But beyond that, I have no idea what to do with Twitter!

Man I don't know what the blog world did without twitter! It such a great way for me to see what my bloggy friends are up too!

I'm just being nosy and wondering why you started over with the blog. I used to twitter tons - over 5,000 tweets - but have eased back lately; not many brilliant thoughts, I guess!

I'm afraid of Twitter b/c I have an addictive personality (hello blogging!). And regarding the nipples, I have no desire to steal your thunder, but will lend you a tip. Our nipples are shriveling up, but since they're atop boobs they become more noticeable where as manly parts get less apparent. And their balls actually do get retracted back up into their body a bit when they get cold. It's called the retractor penis muscle - I'm 99% sure of that. I'm not a freak, I'm a veterinarian!
(come to think of it... I'm going to write a penis post right now! you're my muse... is that twisted?)

To answer some questions twitter is what you want it to be..lurking and reading funny posts, chatting, "advertising" or socializing. A lot or a little, your choice.

Carma, I didn't mean to delete my blog I was closing tabs and hit the new post one by accident. But duh, forgot they do automatically saved so it wasn't completely lost. Of course I didn't realize that until I posted the new one. Lesson learned.

And One Sassy Girl, I am with you on the addiction thing. I don't have 5K tweets but do like to "hang out" there.

As for the nip and ball info, thanks. Still researching but I know where to come if I get stuck.
And I have never been a muse so I will take it as a complement, twisted or not.

I love the fact that people give links to what they are saying. I have learned a lot. I am Twitter struck.

I go through Twitter spurts (that sounds kind of gross)...There are times where I love it, and times where I feel invisible. It's fun though:)

Can I out my ignorant self right here?
I don't GET Twitter, which bothers me, cuz I blab, I blog, and I lurve updating my facebook status several times a day with my wit and brilliance.
I can't get my Twitter up to save my life, and I don't GET enjoying anyone else's Tweets either.
I think it's because I'm not text savvy.
I chose poorly (before becoming a texter) and I am s-l-o-w on my phone.
144 characters and it'll take me 12 minutes. My battery will die after three texts.
If I'm already at the computer I may as well spill the whimsy on my fb.
(You should friend me, BTW. My button is on my sidebar, and I'm hardly ever creepy online. Hardly ever.)
I'm outed.

I tweet random thoughts on the day... usually quite inane. like for example: Happiness is Free Friday Bagels!

Celebrities I follow are... Wil Wheaton is hilarious (@wilw), a lot of racers are on there... it's kinda funny to see someone like Danica Patrick (@danicapatrick) who's known for 2 things, racing and being hot, talk about making cookies. And I follow PostSecret (@postsecret) which tweets emails he's received about PostSecret cards and on Saturday posts Twitter exclusive postcards in his Saturday Secrets.
