Bigger Font, World Domination part deux and Adsense

I have one request for some of the bloggers out there, use a bigger font please. Especially when the post is a longer one. I have trouble reading the smaller print and all the lines run into each other. I also have new glasses and they suck. I am getting them replaced soon-ish and I can't wait. The optician warned me I may not have chosen the best frame for my perscription but I wanted a new style and turns out he was right, go figure. The new ones are more rectangular and the bottom of the lens is cut off and makes the reading area of the lens very small. (I have verilux lenses which are basically trifocals...no comments) The oval or rounded lenses would give the lens more reading area.......but even I do have some trouble with the smaller font. Soooo if you have any sympathy for some of us aging (ok I am not that old..so I am told) please use a bigger font.

A while back I wrote of my goal for world domination ( Where in the World are My Readers )   in the blog world that is. At the time I had 57 countries, now with the newest addition being Taiwan I have 75 countries... I am getting there.

My next goal is US domination, which seems to be closer, I have aquired 47 out of 50 states. I do know how many states we have unlike our current president ( Obama has visited 57 states !!  ) , sorry (well not really) but I couldn't resist. The three states resisting my charm and great writing are West Virginia, North Dakota and South Dakota. Not sure what the problem is but I must search for some bloggers from those states and set them straight.

Lastly, I have had Google Adsense for almost a year now and I don't know how they make any money but I know I'm not. I have made a total of $60.36. They don't send you a check until you make $100 and by the time I get a check I might be able to buy a cup of coffee . I have filled out all their tax forms and done all the address verifications but here I sit waiting to cash in.

I am the first to admit I am not good at clicking ads on others blogs but I am going to try and change that and do some clicking. I say we spread the wealth... I looked up google and they are worth billions of dollars, they can spare some change for a few hard working bloggers.

I am curious if anyone has  been at it long enough to get a check?

LOL..a cup of coffee huh. I suppose I shouldn't count on making any money blogging then huh.
I was in front of you on blog roll and loved the name of your blog..so thought i'd pop over and check u out. Glad i did.
Also..agree with you on using bigger font. I notice when I have a serious post and it's long..i used smaller font and didn't get as many responses.

i have made a total of $.36 on Adsense. I have sold some sponsorships which have done well to get me paid a little.

Good luck with the Us domination! You know you can use your Link Referral account and search by location now. Maybe if you visit some people in those states, you will achieve your goal much much sooner. Just a thought.

I also have problems with the smaller font. I have recv'd emails with the font so small I swear even they couldn't read it!

Excellent...I too hate the small font, but I fear I may be guilty of this too...but my real argument is when bloggers' posts are 3 pages long...

Yup, drives me nuts too. Now I'm paranoid that mine is small. It looks different on every browser but I think it's ok... Feel free to punch me if not.

I've visited North Dakota many times now so I'll count it FOR you. :)

Here's to US domination! Love it.

I just clicked both your links in your ad so hopefully that made you a couple more cents! Heck, if everyone who comes here today clicks, you'll get a boost!

As for fonts, my layout automatically makes my font small. I have to go in on every post and tell it to make the font size 3. The only problem with that is, someday if I change my layout, those posts are going to be HUGE unless I go back and change them!

Now you got me all self conscious about my font!!

I used to live in South Dakota..does that count! hehe

With my lineless, gradiated bifocals, I'll be the last person to say anything about your trifocals. Especially because I may be looking at some after my optometrist appt. next week.

I think I've made all of six bucks from Google AdSense...

I am having drink on you dominating the US and the world!

Small fonts, ... I don't want to use larger fonts,.. because then my post looks like something out of a children's book. Can't have that because some of my post can be mistaken as pages out of such books.. Appearances, ahem!

I always forget to click on ads, I'll click today!!

You can make (almost) any webiste larger in IE if you go to view -> text size -> largest. Soemtimes it makes the spacing off + you have to scroll more, but so totally worth it!

Funny post! I totally understand the no line trifocals. Just got some myself and we are not getting along very well. Love your blog name. Come by and visit sometime!

-->If you're using internet explorer at the very bottom right of your browser window it says "100%" with a magnifying glass before it. Click the down arrow to the right and click on a larger number to have the entire page appear larger. I hope this helps!

(Now go click on the ads on my blog! haha...)

That's good with the adsense!

I think I am guilty of small fontness. I promise I will repent - soon.

I have made 60 cents so far from Ad Sense.. woot!

Maybe we could pool our earnings and buy a POT of coffee.

Selling sponsorships... um.. what's that like? Who do I call? I am shameless.

I've only heard about people getting close to the $100 mark and then having their accounts closed on them for whatever reason. I hope you reach your level safely and soundly!

So what font size are you using? Is that the normal font (the middle default one?)

Vodka Logic said...

I have heard the same thing blueviolet, too many clicks or asking for clicks have suspended accounts.

I/we are prob getting scammed.

Under fonts I chose large I think but not the biggest size.

Hoping my font does not fall into the "too small" category.

I have made $0.00 on my Google Ads so it will be about a lifetime before I get a check.

Let's see...I've had adsense on my blog for about a year...so far the amount to date is $23.00 - so I guess that means I'll finally get a payout in a little over 4 years. Yippee. :) Plus, like blueviolet said, I've read about a ton of bloggers who hit their magic $100+ mark, and Adsense found a way NOT to pay them and closed their account citing something about not sticking to the terms. I thought about removing it from my blog, but I'm curious to see if 1) it EVER gets to the $100 mark, and 2) if I get swindled by Adsense, too. :)

I'll have to see how the 'large' font works for posts...I tend to be wordy, so I've usually selected 'normal' - but like Deb Thaxton mentioned, you can change your universal viewing size in your browser. I don't use IE anymore (because it sucks) but in Firefox, you click on 'Tools', then 'Options', then 'Content', you see 'Fonts & Colors' - you can select an easy-to-read font, the font size, then click on 'Advanced' and do the same there...but more importantly, there's a little box that may be checked where it says "Allow pages to choose their own fonts..." If you un-check that, whatever font and size you've selected will be what you see on your screen. So no matter how small someone's font is, you can override it...you know, to save your eyes. :)

I had adsense on my blog and right before I got to $100.00 they closed ny account and I never got a cent.

I think they are using people and then thinking up excuses not to pay them.

Good Luck

Whoo hoo I am one of your 120 Canadian visitors!! When I was playing around with my blog I made certain that I could read it so I am positive almost anyone else can read it.

Once you have dominated the world can I tell people I knew you "when"

Debbie said...

I don't have adsense but I have BlogHer and it is essentially the same. I need to do better about clicking too.
I am with you on the font. Although I would also like to throw in the busy backgrounds or very dark backgrounds. I can't read a word!

Oh, in response to your comment on my blog, I just bought books because I'm a nerd ;)

i am going to try and come back often to click on all of your ads! Eyeglasses aren't cheap and you just got a new pair.

Thank you for your big font! I'm always ridiculously when I find blogs that have giant comment font. Ya, I'm weird.

I had adsense. They bounced me when I did a sex toy review. I was up to $70. Didn't see a penny of it. Woe is me...

Cookie said...

That is funny about the money! I couldn't even figure out how to get the ads up on my blog and i've been blogging for a year now. I can be slow about things sometimes.
And i might have some idea about the West VA dilema. Do they have servers there? My blog always thinks I'm in NJ. But really I'm in Seattle. Something about my cable company and the routing of my server tells my blog counter that I'm in NJ and that's where it registers me as. At least that's what my computer geeks husband says whenever I check my stats.
Good luck with your blog goals!

Elizabeth said...

Glad you mentioned that, I've barely made anything on AdSense, and definitely not enough for them to pay me with. You're right, we all should do some clicking to help out fellow bloggers, it's the least we can do to support them! Stopping by from the Fabulous Bitch's blog this morning, happy Friday to you!

The print size I can deal with, it's those way too busy pages that take forever to load that kill me.

Hi www.greedygirlsguide.com checking in from SITS

Like everyone else I haven't made a thing yet either. I've only been at this for 6 months but i haven't even made it to a dollar.
I've also read the horror stories of the magic suspensions. I've heard than even mentioning not making money like you did in the post can be flag for suspension (sorry to point that out)

I've just started using shareasale.com in month month i've made $1.50 it's not much but it's 6 times faster than what i've made with adsense.

Vodka Logic said...

I have heard that mentioning it can get you suspended, oh well. I have certainly got a lot of interesting opinions it. I will probably try something else later.. will see what happens here. And if I get suspended you and adsense will here from me.
