Music Has the Power

Music has the power.
To make us smile.
Calm the beast,
And relax awhile.

Soothing at most,
Relaxing to me.
Depending the beat,
Let lose and dance free.

No matter your taste,
Music is your voice.
Personal to most,
No one elses, your choice.

I love to listen,
To what is said.
The songs help release,
The thoughts in my head.

Lyrics are able,
To make me cry.
Churn up the soul,
And a tear to my eye.

Don't let anyone,
Choose your beat.
Only you know
What makes you repleat.

My request for you,
To do today.
Is find that song,
Listen loud as you sway.

Happy or sad,
Listen to your soul.
As long as you feel,
That's the ultimate goal

Great poem. I listen to music so much that I often think in song. For instance, my manager asked early where the warehouse guy was and instantly I started singing where can he be now? It happens all the time.

Hello there,

I agree with your concept about music. In my own definition of music, it is a tool that is used for expressing oneself feeling.

Love your poem.

I love to listen to music, that is, when I can pry Corbin away from the television. He's at that age, you know, but I think he's starting to come around and develop an appreciation for music. At least I hope so because I could listen to music all day.

It's so true. As I sit here, I've got a beer open and the CD player on. It's heaven.

Love this poem--I so agree!! Better go turn on some tunes!

And yes, you should totally win a bag of donuts for guessing Garrison Keillor. But they are only good hot out of the frier.

I've been listening to a lot of lyrics this past week. What I mean is I listen to the same about of music as usual in the car, but I've actually been listening to the lyrics and relating more lately. Crazy cause I don't know why. My fav lyrical song has to be Jesus of Suburbia by Green Day. Great Great band, not just cause they are from my home area.
