And you thought Diapers were Expensive.

I read a lot of blogs. Most seem to be written by younger woman and men, Someone blogged recently about diaper changing and potty training. This is a distant memory for me thank goodness. Diapers are expensive and it is always a nice reprieve when the kiddos graduate and can use the potty. The money saved now spent on extra laundry detergent to wash up the accidents.

What prompted these thoughts? I went to CVS yesterday to pick up paper towels (8 pack) and while I was there I picked up some "feminine products" I bought two boxes of tampons (different sizes) some pads and pantie liners. Total bill $33. OMG and that only covered two of us. Damn, in between the diaper years and puberty I should have saved money. Forget diaper costs, having two daughters is expensive.

And I still need extra laundry detergent for accidents.

I don't even want to think about the "accidents" of which you speak. :-)

Boy, now I'm happier than ever that I only have a kitty. Litter, deoderizer, Science Diet kibble, treats, vitamins, toys, and vet bills do add up... but at least I never have to worry about Ruby being an ornery teenager!

Ugh, I never thought about the rising costs of feminine products either but now that I have it is rather ridiculous!

This may gross some people out. Beware.

I use a sea sponge when I menstruate. You can by a pack of two for 3 dollars at any grocery store. Organic ones cost 5. Insert it like you would a tampon, when it is full, take it out, wash it with soap and water then let it dry out and put the second one in. Alternate between the two for your entire period. At 5 dollars a period, I spend only 60 dollars a year on feminine products. Not bad.

Look at it this way - you'll start saving money again as soon as they both go away to college and Mother Nature pulls the plug on you.

Silver linings, girl - it's all about silver linings.

Funny!

Good tip - my girls are three & five and we're completely out of diapers/pull-ups.

Yay, just one more thing to look forward to when the teenage years hit :)
